Amtrack To Expand Free Wi Fi
Amtrak’s three-month trial of free Wi Fi
was so successful that Amtrak is making it standard
on all Acela trains running between Washington,
D.C. and Boston. It’s planning to offer
Wi Fi on its fleet nationwide, once it gets funding.
This will begin this fall on Amtrak Routes in
California, with Northeast regional service. (Source:

Airlines
TSA Implements Secure Flight Data Requirements
The U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has clarified
their requirements for all travel taking off or landing at a
U.S. airport, effective November 1 (but enforced by most airlines
starting September 15th). TSA is requiring 100% compliance on
every ticket issued or the traveler may be denied access through
security and face a TSA-imposed fine. In addition, Summit Travel’s
After-Hours Service cannot serve travelers unless an individual
profile is in place. Mandatory TSA and airline data elements
are needed prior to ticketing your reservation and include full
legal name, date of birth ad gender.
United/Continental Merger Cleared By European Commission
United and Continental received unconditional clearance from
the European Commission on the airlines' proposed merger. The
Commission noted its investigation found the proposed transaction
would not raise any specific concerns in Europe or the trans-Atlantic.
This is a significant market for the combined new company. The
airlines announced plans for an all-stock merger of equals in
May and expect the transaction to close in the fourth quarter
of 2010.
United Upgrade Request Procedures

when you first book your flight with United, all the way up

1K members can use a Systemwide Upgrade or Regional Upgrade
